Hicks Construction steadily gained respect in construction industry throughout the Knoxville area over the past 55 years. In that time, Tommy has completed diverse construction projects such as car dealerships, food service franchises, medical facilities, retail centers, and industrial buildings. As varied as the Hicks Construction portfolio is, all of Tommy Hicks’ projects share in representing the utmost in quality and versatility at reasonable cost.

Thomas R. Hicks Construction is now owned and operated by Christy Hicks who began her career in the real estate and construction industry in 1999. Under the tutelage of her father, Christy was able to learn about exceeding expectations in the industry. Today, Christy and her team continue the tradition of excellence, professionalism, and diversification.

The management team consists of family and friends who share the same vision for helping the growth of Clinton, Tennessee, both in real estate and construction.

Our Process

We want the process of building your new home, designing your renovation or expanding your home to be an enjoyable experience. Over the last 55 years we have developed a simply yet successful process and the the core of this philosophy is communication and service. We will personally meet with you and explain the entire building process to ensure a smooth process that leaves you with a product you love. It is our aim to deliver a high quality product that stays at or under budget and is completed on time.

1. Initial Inquiry

In order to START THE PROCESS please fill out our enquiry form to help us better understand your proposed project. Once submitted, a member of our team will evaluate the project and contact you in due course. During our high season, please note delay in response is subject to happen

2. Evaluation of Request

No money required

As a project management company, TR Hicks Construction cannot provide quote on every request. We will evaluate your enquiry and advise if we can take on your proposed project or if we may have to regrettably decline due to location, budget, scope of work, etc.

3. Site Visit

No money required

In order to move forward with an initial estimate, our owner and construction foreman will arrange to meet with you at the proposed job site. They will work with you to gather all required information in order to put together the planning budget. During our high season, please note delay in creating a planning budget is subject to happen

4. Planning Budget

No money required

A planning budget is created and presented in person. This planning budget will give you a rough indication as to the cost of the proposed project as discussed at the initial site visit with our owner. If the planning budget is approved we will move forward to the next step.

5. Site Measure & Retainer

Money required

TR Hicks Construction will arrange for a site measure of the existing home in order for permit drawings to be created. At the time of the arranged site visit a retainer must be collected in order for any architectural drawings to be created. This retainer will cover for the pre-construction costs including drawings, permits and any other documents that must be drafted for city submission.

The initial meeting will be approximately 3 hours and at this point a discussion between our owner, construction foreman and architect will take place. A receipt of retainer will be left with the client and signed by all parties involved.

6. Scope of Work

With the completed drawings, TR Hicks Construction will work to create a detailed scope of work for the proposed project. As a project management based company, we work with local subcontractors who will provide us with initial quotes for pricing. Once the scope of work is completed, we will arrange a presentation date for our owner to explain the scope of work for the proposed job.

7. Contract

Money required

If the scope of work is approved by the client and the decision to go ahead with the job has been established, TR Hicks Construction will draft up a contract in which both parties will sign. Upon the presentation of the contract a deposit will be collected. At this point in time, you will be introduced to your project manager who will be leading the job with their crew. Once the permit has been approved by the city (please note, the architect will submit the permit on the client’s behalf) we will then commence construction on the date stipulated in the contract.
